Trendy clothes are fun but timeless pieces never go out of style. this is an example…
A visit to the Sakura Matsuri Cherry Blossom Festival is the perfect excuse to wear the off the shoulder top, considered a timeless top and also known as Peasant or Bardot top (in honor of Brigitte Bardot). It has been used in fashion since the 19th Century. Victorian women dressed by Charles Frederick Worth, a prestigious designer from early 1800’s created designs with a neckline that fell over the top of the arm, at a time that represented women’s domesticity and the privilege of not working because they could afford that (women barely could move their arms due to the design).
History-Off The Shoulder Ladies Top
In 1960s Brigitte Bardot revived the fashion trend wearing off the shoulder tops and dresses during her frequent appearances in Cannes and Saint Tropez. Later in the 1980s, the trend was popular once again with celebrities like Madonna wearing bodycon dresses and sweatshirt off the shoulder. And lately, designers across the world included the trend as part of their collections for Spring 2018; Tadashi Shoji, Christian Siriano, Lacoste, Balmain, Céline, Monse and more.
It is flattering in all body types, it shows the right amount of skin that makes it appropriate to wear casual and formal. It’s ideal for warmer weather as a Summer Top, but you can also wear off the shoulder sweaters during colder months. It is a timeless piece all women should own. I am wearing a top from Bloomingdale’s Women tops, you can check a similar option here.
